The 2023 edition of the IODP-France Scientific Days will take place on November 29th and 30th at the Institute of Planetary Physics of Paris (IPGP).
The objective of the IODP-France 2023 Scientific Days will be to provide a still provisional assessment of the involvement of the French scientific community in the International Ocean Discovery Program during the 2013-2024 decade. It will allow scientists who have embarked on IODP expeditions and their onshore collaborators to present their main results through invited presentations and/or posters. Continuing in various administrative forms since 1968 and bringing together about twenty nations around common scientific and societal goals, IODP is the largest and most enduring international initiative in marine geosciences. We are currently at a pivotal moment in the program's history due to the upcoming decommissioning (October 2024) of one of its dedicated research vessels, the R/V JOIDES Resolution.
These scientific days will provide an opportunity to present to the community how the various actors of IODP plan to adapt the program's mode of operation to this development (at-sea operations, management, etc.), and to discuss it collectively.
